Youth Ministry

Mission

It is the mission of St. John’s Youth Ministry to build young people as whole people in Jesus Christ through the recognition of personal gifts, team-building, community service and just plain fun!

Youth Ministry at St. John’s shares this purpose to have youth:

  • Come together as a "team" to glorify and serve God
  • Grow in faith
  • Serve each other and the community

A variety of programs are offered to youth in grades 3-12, designed with the understanding that each young person is unique and that God is calling each of them into relationship with God and with others. Our purpose is based on the following scripture:

The Greatest Commandment Matthew 22:37-39

He said to them, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The Great Commission Matthew 28: 19-20

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

A full-time youth director, Peter St. Lawrence, provides direction for St. John’s Youth Ministries. Programming is designed specially for the needs and interests of each age group. Activities are planned with opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. The youth director is supported by a group of adults and older youth volunteers who serve on the Youth Ministry Committee. This is a wonderful way to provide input and make a difference in the lives of the youth in the church
