Event for Return Team to review:

 

Game #1: Nature Walk/Path

 

Game #2: Let’s Pray Croquet

Audience:  Families

End of July

Mow paths through property where tall grass is, put prayer stations in evenly spaced - encourage families to walk through.

Before coming to Nature Walk or Croquet

 

The building will be closed, please wash hands before coming. The bathrooms at church will not be available.

Please stay home if one of these apply to anyone in your household attending:

  •  Be at a normal temperature/ not running a temperature

  •   Experiencing any symptoms such as: headache, runny nose, cough, sore throat, diarrhea/vomiting, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, and/ or body aches.

  •   If anyone at home is sick, please stay home. 

 

Game #1: During Nature Walk

  1. Groups should be kept to households. Keeping with social distancing regulations. At least 6 feet away from any other groups participating in the walk. 

  2. Please read the laminated Bible Verses without touching them. Verses will be on posts throughout the walk. 


 

Game #2: Let’s Pray Croquet

  1. Plastic container outside the double doors on the east side of the building contains mallets, rubber balls, and Lysol wipes.

  2. The container lid explains the rules, how to play and pray the Croquet game, and to wipe down mallets and balls before use.

  3. Groups should be kept to households. Keeping with social distancing regulations. If there is another group playing, the next household would need to wait in the car until the other group is finished.

Middle School Bonfires

6th, 7th, 8th grade

Monday Nights

7:00-8:00pm

Following COVID procedures outlined below. 

 

Proposed middle school youth bonfire dates: July 20, August 3, August 17. 

 

Before coming to Middle School Youth Bonfire:

 

1. The building will be closed, please wash hands before coming. The bathrooms at church will only be available in an emergency.

2. Please stay home if one of these apply to anyone in your household attending:

  •  Be at a normal temperature/ not running a temperature

  •   Experiencing any symptoms such as: headache, runny nose, cough, sore throat, diarrhea/vomiting, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, and/ or body aches.

  •   If anyone at home is sick, please stay home. 

3. Bring a mask and plan to wear it during the entire event.   If not, one will be provided.

4. Bring an outdoor chair or blanket to sit on. 

5. Apply bug spray before coming.  

6. Bring Bible and water bottle. 

7. Do not bring any food. 

 

During Bonfire:

 

  1. All youth should maintain a physical distance of 6ft from other participants. Marks will be spray painted on the ground to mark areas for sitting. 

  2. We will encourage youth to speak one at a time. 

  3. We will require phones be kept out of sight, in pockets or left at home. 

 

End of Bonfire: 

 

  1. The adult volunteer will walk with youth back to the parking lot while maintaining social distancing. 

  2. Adults will be responsible for putting out fire, cleaning up and taking supplies back into the building. 

 

After Bonfire:

 

  1. Please let the church staff know if youth becomes sick after the bonfire.

Wednesday Nights

Proposed HS youth bonfire start date: July 15 and continue each Wednesday following. July 22, 29, August 5,12,19.

  •   Experiencing any symptoms such as: headache, runny nose, cough, sore throat, diarrhea/vomiting, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, and/ or body aches.

  •   If anyone at home is sick, please stay home.

Vacation Bible School

The information below no longer applies, effective Aug. 4, 2020.  VBS will be offered online rather than in-person due to increased cases of COVID in Dakota County.

Outdoor

Preschool through Elementary age children, some volunteers and key staff

August, 11, 12, 13

Following COVID procedures outlined below. 

 

Proposed VBS dates: August 11, 12, 13 

 

Before coming to VBS:

  1. Please stay home if one of these apply to anyone in your household attending:

  •  Be at a normal temperature/ not running a temperature

  •   Experiencing any symptoms such as: headache, runny nose, cough, sore throat, diarrhea/vomiting, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, and/ or body aches.

  •   If anyone at home is sick, please keep everyone at home. 

 

  1. Have your child use the bathroom and wash hands thoroughly.  Bathrooms at church will only be available in an emergency.

  2. Check your child’s temperature.  If it is over 100.4 or if they are experiencing any other symptoms (cough, sore throat, diarrhea/vomiting) please keep them home.  If you have more than one child attending VBS and one of them is sick, please keep ALL children home.

  3. Children should wear masks, If you have one, please arrive with it on. If not, one will be provided for your child.

 

During VBS:

 

  1. Your child should, with help from our volunteers, maintain a physical distance of 6ft from other participants not in their family group as much as possible.

  2. After the opening, stop at the welcome desk and have your child(ren) use the hand sanitizer provided and take a mask if you do not have your own.

  3. Your child will be using hand sanitizer in between all station activities.

 

After VBS:

 

  1. Please have your child wash their hands upon returning home.

  2. Please let the church know if your child becomes ill after attending VBS.

 

Our volunteers will be doing the following procedures to keep your child safe:

 

  1. All volunteers will be wearing a mask.  They will also wear a name tag (with a picture if possible) so your children know who they are.

  2. Volunteers will be helping to keep children physically distanced.

  3. Volunteers will distribute hand sanitizer after each rotation at each station.

  4. Volunteers will sanitize each station and any shared objects in between each rotation.

 

Groups for VBS

Normally VBS at St John’s is Monday through Thursday from 9-12 noon. This is not what will be doing. VBS on August 11, 12, 13 will be a totally outdoor event with one rainy day makeup for Friday, August 14. We will have three sessions of kids from 9:30-10:30 am,, 11-12 noon, and 6:30-7:30 pm. Families sign up their kids to be in one group. Each time slot will offer three groups of 6 kids each plus one volunteer.
